Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, merchandise, and physical assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to safety incidents, and supporting emergency response efforts. This role partners with store leadership and external agencies to maintain a safe shopping environment and reduce shrinkage.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions following policy and leadership guidance.
- Monitor video and surveillance systems to identify and investigate theft activity.
- Use reporting, RFID data, and technology to identify theft trends and support investigations.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and working with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Respond to and report store security incidents and medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and participate in store meetings and shrinkage awareness efforts.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training including First Aid.
- Prepare and submit reports for high-profile incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when summoned and liaise with local law enforcement and neighboring retailers.
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment in fast-paced situations.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when dealing with aggressive behavior.
- Accountability, initiative, and ownership of responsibilities.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and collaborate with cross functional partners.
