Summary
The Asset Protection Coordinator I is responsible for detecting, deterring, and addressing customer and associate activity that may result in loss. The role promotes compliance with theft prevention, safety, and inventory control policies and supports training and awareness across store operations. This position reports to the Asset Protection Manager or Asset Protection Lead and works primarily on the sales floor and in-store security systems.
Responsibilities
- Promote and ensure operational compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance and apprehension of external theft suspects following company guidelines.
- Operate and monitor store security systems including CCTV.
- Assist management in internal theft investigations as directed.
- Monitor facility access to deter unauthorized removal of company assets.
- Complete audits of operational, safety, and inventory control procedures.
- Maintain relationships with local law enforcement and mall security and represent the company in court when required.
- Complete incident and investigation reports and paperwork related to shrink reduction programs.
- Assist with planning, execution, and reconciliation of inventory and shrink action plans.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a retail environment preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Windows and Excel.
- Working knowledge of CCTV monitoring systems preferred.
- Ability to preserve confidentiality and make quick sound decisions.
- Ability to work day or evening hours including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk the sales floor for 6-8 hours per shift and move objects as needed.
- Must satisfy applicable state or local licensing requirements.
