Job Description

Summary

The Assistant Concept Designer supports Nordstrom Product Group Design partners in developing brand concepts for multiple Nordstrom Made brands, using trend, market and data insights to inform design direction. This role contributes to trend reporting, buy meeting preparation, and execution of assigned design projects while collaborating with cross-divisional partners in a hybrid HQ setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design team in preparing for key milestones and monitoring timelines for deliverables
  • Support Design Director with buy meeting preparation
  • Contribute to preparation of trend reports
  • Plan, facilitate, and execute assigned design projects
  • Collaborate with design team and cross-divisional partners to inform deliverables
  • Research fashion, culture, social media, technology trends and competitive brands
  • Provide insights and actionable narratives to inform product design and retail strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, or related field
  • 1+ year of relevant design and conceptual experience
  • Strong knowledge of textiles, artwork techniques, and fabric
  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Miro, and MS Office; ability to hand sketch
  • Clear written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
