Summary

The Assistant Sales Department Manager supports the department manager to drive sales and deliver exceptional customer service through coaching, selling on the floor, and executing merchandising and inventory plans. This role focuses on recruiting, training, and developing the team while achieving department productivity and shrinkage goals.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train and develop sales team members
• Assist department manager in creating and executing department business plans
• Coach salespeople to deliver outstanding customer service
• Actively sell on the sales floor to build customer relationships
• Ensure merchandising and presentation standards are met
• Support accurate inventory management and shrinkage control
• Set and achieve individual and department sales goals
• Collaborate with store and divisional leaders to drive results

Requirements

• Proven track record of sales productivity and results
• Competitive drive and comfort in a commission-based environment
• Ability to set and achieve sales goals
• Experience building productive relationships with store and divisional partners
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to lead and coach a retail sales team
