Job Description

Summary

The Assistant Sales Department Manager supports the department manager in meeting sales and productivity goals through directive selling, team development, merchandising execution and inventory control while delivering exceptional customer experiences on the sales floor.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train and develop department sales team
  • Assist in creating and executing department business plans to meet volume and productivity goals
  • Coach salespeople to deliver outstanding customer service and lead by example on the floor
  • Actively sell to build long lasting customer relationships and a loyal following
  • Support merchandising and presentation standards with the department manager
  • Help manage inventory accuracy and achieve shrinkage goals
  • Collaborate with store leadership and divisional merchandisers to drive results
  • Set and achieve personal and department sales goals

Requirements

  • Proven track record of sales productivity and results
  • Competitive drive and ability to work in a commission-based environment
  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • Experience developing productive relationships with store and department leaders
  • Ability to coach and lead a retail sales team
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
