Summary
The Assistant Manager leads the sales floor to deliver an elevated customer shopping experience while driving sales and profit performance. Partnering with the General Manager, this role coaches and develops staff, executes merchandising and loss prevention procedures, and supports promotional and operational initiatives to achieve store objectives.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales and profit performance for the store or department
- Work with General Manager to develop and monitor operating budgets
- Set individual sales goals and supervise sales staff to maximize results
- Coach and mentor team members to uphold customer service standards
- Execute visual presentation initiatives and maintain store image
- Implement loss prevention and asset protection procedures
- Recruit, supervise, and develop store staff and fill open roles timely
- Provide feedback to buying and allocation teams on merchandise performance
- Support execution of promotional strategies and programs
Requirements
- Enthusiasm for maintaining an elevated brand image
- Ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Analytical, business, and financial acumen
- Relevant retail or supervisory experience preferred
- Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred
- Ability to operate register and perform physical duties on the sales floor
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and climb a ladder as trained
- Ability to stand and walk for multiple hours
