Summary
The Buyer, Fine Jewelry shapes product selection and content strategy based on customer insights, market trends, and the department's merchandise strategy. This hybrid role is based in Seattle or New York City and partners with planning teams to achieve sales, margin, and inventory goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal product plans informed by customer expectations and market trends.
- Build multichannel expertise across in-store and online presentation, customer behavior, and competition.
- Negotiate exclusive offerings, vendor terms, pricing, markdown funding, return agreements, drop-ship programs, and co-op opportunities.
- Manage in-season inventory decisions, including assortment swaps, markdowns, and reorders.
- Partner with buy planners and financial planners on business reviews, open-to-buy management, and plan revisions.
- Coach and motivate assistant buyers.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of multichannel or omnichannel retail buying experience, or equivalent.
- Strong negotiation skills and a record of building vendor relationships.
- People leadership experience and the ability to motivate performance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of retail and service culture.
- Bachelor's degree in merchandising or a related field preferred.
- Experience managing a high-volume, multi-brand category; jewelry or luxury experience preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally one to two times per year.
- Willingness to work onsite at the designated office at least four days per week.
