Job Description

Summary

As a Buyer at The Corner, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive gifting and holiday content strategy. You will leverage customer and trend information to support merchandise strategies and build assortment plans within financial parameters. Your role will also involve nurturing a diverse team of future merchant leaders and achieving financial objectives to exceed sales volume and merch-margin-return-on-investment targets.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver product and brand strategies that align with customer strategy and priorities.
  • Build relevant assortments by country, channel, and store region/cluster.
  • Manage and develop brand relationships to meet sales, margin, and inventory targets.
  • Articulate vision and strategy to cross-functional partners for successful execution.
  • Handle brand onboarding, negotiations, and compliance with supplier agreements.
  • Collaborate with Buying and Assortment Planning teams to balance product mix.
  • Develop expertise in multi-channel presentation, customer behavior, and competition.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of buying and planning experience.
  • Program management skills for managing multiple pop-ups.
  • Strong brand relationships and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to organize and plan across multiple stakeholders.
  • Leadership presence with strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of Nordstrom’s retail and service environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
