Job Description

Summary

The Vertical Buyer partners with the Merchandising Director to develop and execute the strategic vision for Women's Apparel within the Nordstrom Product Group, leading assortment development, buying, and lifecycle management across channels while coaching direct reports and collaborating cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal line plans establishing item, price, and unit expectations to meet financial targets.
  • Assort collections by cluster and partner with Assortment Planners on product quantification and allocation.
  • Analyze marketplace insights, consumer trends, and sales data to inform strategy and identify new product opportunities.
  • Partner with design and product development to translate concepts into final assortments.
  • Manage Open-To-Buy and rebalance inventory across key areas as needed.
  • Provide feedback on product construction with cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Prepare and facilitate internal meetings to build seasonal assortments and share strategic overviews.
  • Drive accountability across teams to deliver sales, turn, and margin results throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Coach and hold direct reports accountable for performance and Time and Action calendar management.

Requirements

  • 4+ years' experience in merchandising, buying, or DTC assortment strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in retail or fashion industry preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills to move from data to actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching experience managing associates and assistants.
