Communications Manager - Public Affairs Issues Management Crisis Communications

As a Communications Manager at Nordstrom, you will play a crucial role in supporting public affairs, issues management, and crisis communication. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans, monitoring reputational risks, leading crisis response, and collaborating with various teams to address complex issues.

• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for various issues and crises affecting customers, employees, and stakeholders.
• Create and maintain crisis communication plans, including activation criteria and response procedures.
• Craft high-quality communications materials, including guidelines, talking points, fact sheets, social media content, employee communications, media statements, and coverage reports.
• Serve as a primary media contact during crises, ensuring accurate and timely coverage.
• Monitor current events, social trends, geopolitical developments, and the business landscape to anticipate potential reputational risks.
• Lead the crisis communications team in executing the response plan during incidents.
• Partner with business units to support communication needs and coordinate with external agencies as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, related field or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on crisis management and public affairs.
• Proven track record in successfully managing high-stakes communication scenarios.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under pressure.
• In-depth understanding of social media dynamics and the current media landscape.
• Proficiency in media monitoring tools and analytics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
