Job Description

Summary

Seeking a Data Scientist to join a retail analytics team in a hybrid role based in downtown Toronto. The role focuses on building statistical models, data sets, and data products to support Marketing, Store Operations, and strategic initiatives. The position reports to the Director of Analytics and collaborates with cross functional teams to operationalize models and insights.

Responsibilities

  • Build and refine feature sets, statistical models, clustering models and recommendation engines.
  • Collect and validate business requirements across departments to align models to use cases.
  • Assess data availability and deploy and automate models and pipelines with engineering.
  • Monitor production models for drift, bias, stability and accuracy and take corrective action.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and research to support decision making and strategy.
  • Create ad hoc queries, aggregations and visualizations to address business questions.
  • Build standardized data sets using SQL, dbt, R or Python for reporting and feature engineering.
  • Support design and development of dashboards and data products for non technical audiences.

Requirements

  • University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Data Scientist or related role.
  • Strong technical skills in R or Python and SQL for data analysis.
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI or Looker and modern data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Exceptional visualization and data storytelling skills across tools and frameworks.
  • Effective planning, prioritizing and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with cross functional teams and meet deadlines.
