SummaryAs a Developer Tools Support Engineer 1, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of critical tools and platforms used by Nordstrom’s engineering teams. You will automate deployments, perform upgrades, and administer tools like GitHub, GitLab, Vault CE, and Artifactory, while supporting CI/CD workflows and optimizing the software development lifecycle. This hybrid role requires onsite work at Nordstrom's headquarters in Seattle, WA a minimum of 3 days per week.
Responsibilities- Build, maintain, and optimize GitHub workflows, GitLab pipelines, and other CI/CD tools.
- Automate infrastructure deployments and tool configurations using Terraform or similar IaC tools.
- Write clean, maintainable code in Python and other object-oriented programming languages.
- Maintain secure and highly available developer tools, performing regular patching, upgrades, and administration.
- Manage and secure secrets using tools like Vault CE and enforce secure coding practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to developer tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer workflows and ensure seamless integration with tools.
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation to provide operational support for critical developer tools and platforms.
Requirements- Hands-on experience with GitHub workflows and actions, and CI/CD tools.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with another object-oriented programming language.
- Experience with Terraform for automated deployments and infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of secrets management tools and secure coding practices.
- Familiarity with administering tools like Artifactory, GitHub, GitLab, and Vault.
- Basic knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS and GCP.
- Ability to write unit tests, integration tests, and provide clean, reusable code.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
