Job Description

Summary

The Director, Global Diamond and Materials Planning leads end-to-end planning for diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals to balance demand and supply, optimize inventory and working capital, and protect service levels. This role owns planning governance and S&OP cadence, drives process and tool improvements, and develops the planning team while partnering across manufacturing, procurement, product development, and finance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end materials plan for stones and metals, including supply strategy, acquisition timing, production requirements, and inventory targets.
  • Design and maintain planning governance, decision rights, calendars, and a monthly S&OP cadence to align demand, supply, and procurement/production plans.
  • Partner with Industrial and Inventory Planning to translate demand into acquisition requirements, run exception management, and adjust plans for risks and constraints.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on demand vs. supply, MOS, excess/obsolescence, purchases, WIP, and key constraints to inform decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of planning processes, data quality, and tools (ERP/MRP, analytics, automation) to improve forecast accuracy and inventory turns.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the planning team, including hiring, performance management, and succession planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Analytics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply planning, inventory planning, demand/supply balancing, or category planning, including people leadership.
  • Experience in complex, constrained supply environments with long lead times or multi-tier suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with fluency in planning and analytics tools (ERP/MRP, APS, BI) and advanced Excel.
  • Proven stakeholder management, communication skills, and ability to influence cross-functionally.
