Summary
Responsible for providing expert fitting and tailoring services for high-end garments, delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the tailoring team in a retail luxury environment. Performs a variety of alterations using standard and specialty sewing equipment and applies technical knowledge of fabrics and garment construction.
Responsibilities
- Perform fittings and alterations on a wide range of garments for customers
- Use standard sewing, pressing, and spotting equipment safely and effectively
- Operate specialty machines such as double-blind, buttonhole, cover-stitch, and leather equipment
- Make alteration decisions during customer fittings using expertise
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the alteration workroom
- Model company customer service principles and develop excellent customer relationships
- Focus on achieving and exceeding individual performance and productivity goals
- Follow all store and alteration workroom policies and procedures
- Support store and department initiatives and perform ad hoc responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years fitting and tailoring experience with high-end merchandise
- Ability to fit and perform alterations on a wide range of garments
- Strong technical background in specialty skills such as leather, knits, double face, beading, fine tailoring, and buttonholes desired
- Ability to use specialty machines including double-blind, buttonhole, cover-stitch, and leather machines
- Knowledge of alterations industry including fabrication and styling of luxury merchandise
- Ability to use all standard sewing, pressing, and spotting equipment
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
