Fitter Tailor Sewer

Summary

Alteration staff member responsible for providing tailoring expertise and exceptional customer service in a luxury retail environment. Performs fittings and alterations on a wide range of garments using standard and specialty sewing equipment while maintaining a clean and safe work area. Works as part of the tailoring team to meet individual productivity and service goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform garment fittings and execute alterations for customers.
• Use standard sewing, pressing and spotting equipment safely and effectively.
• Operate specialty machines such as buttonhole, coverstitch and leather equipment.
• Make alteration decisions during customer fittings using technical expertise.
• Maintain high levels of customer service and develop strong customer relationships.
• Follow store, alteration workroom and tailor procedures and policies.
• Support store and department initiatives and assist with ad hoc responsibilities as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure quality workmanship.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years fitting and tailoring experience with high end merchandise.
• Ability to fit and alter a wide range of garments and luxury fabrics.
• Technical experience with specialty skills such as leather, knits, double face, beading and fine tailoring.
• Experience using specialty machines including double blind, buttonhole and coverstitch.
• Knowledge of alterations industry including fabrication and styling of luxury merchandise.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service and meet productivity goals.
