Housekeeping Room Attendant

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Housekeeping / Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining guest rooms and designated hotel areas to the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and presentation. This role supports an exceptional guest experience by ensuring rooms are properly cleaned, refreshed, and prepared for arrival in accordance with the hotel’s luxury hospitality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Clean and service guest rooms, bathrooms, and assigned areas according to hotel standards.
• Change linens, make beds, replenish amenities, and restock room supplies.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces, fixtures, floors, and bathroom areas.
• Inspect rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper presentation.
• Report maintenance issues, damaged items, and lost property to the appropriate team.
• Respond to housekeeping requests and coordinate with other hotel staff as needed.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment in an organized condition.
• Follow established safety, sanitation, and guest privacy procedures.
• Maintain open communication with the Hotel Manager regarding issues, priorities, and opportunities for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred; hospitality experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Reliable, organized, and responsive to guest and team needs.
• Ability to follow cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
• Professional demeanor and respect for guest privacy and personal belongings.
• Flexible availability to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.

REPORTS TO

This position is a direct report to the department supervisor or on-site Hotel Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed throughout guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and designated hotel areas. The role involves working independently and coordinating with the housekeeping team to maintain consistent cleanliness and presentation standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and pushing housekeeping carts. The ability to lift and carry linens, supplies, and cleaning equipment and perform repetitive cleaning tasks is required.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

The hotel operates 24/7, so scheduling will be based on shifts to accommodate occupancy needs, which may vary by season.

The pay range for this role is:

20.10 - 21.40 USD per hour (Malibu, CA)
