Job Description

Summary

James Perse is seeking an entry level Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department in Downey, CA. The role involves assisting with HR policies, procedures, benefits, and employee programs, while frequently interacting with employees, public, and state and federal agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service to employees, applicants, visitors, supervisors, management, and other administrative staff.
  • Maintain and track human resources metrics and data, and develop internal and external reports.
  • Manage HR administration tasks including copying, filing, scanning, and creating and purging forms/files.
  • Support all components of the employment life cycle.
  • Assist with maintenance and provide technical support for HR Information Systems.
  • Compose letters and complete employment verifications.
  • Investigate and process unemployment insurance compensation requests.
  • Interpret phone messages correctly and record them into the appropriate log and database.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and participate in departmental meetings, training, and education.
  • Assist with the training of other employees and provide backup to other areas in administration.
  • Complete other duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration plus 1 year experience desired.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment law, document management systems, and record management.
  • HRIS (ADP, Ultipro, etc.) experience is a plus.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints.
  • Maintain composure at all times.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
