Summary
Interim Asset Protection Agent responsible for protecting customers, employees, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and maintaining store safety and security. The role partners with store leadership and external agencies to investigate incidents, reduce shrinkage, and enforce policies while providing clear documentation and testimony when required.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and leadership guidance.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, surveillance, and technology tools.
- Implement shrinkage reduction action plans and merchandise protection standards.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and coordinating with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Monitor and use video systems and RFID data to support investigations.
- Respond to and report store security and emergency incidents, including medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and participate in store meetings and shrinkage awareness training.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in related training including First Aid.
- Prepare and submit reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations and testify in court when summoned.
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to make and be accountable for decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior.
- Accountability, initiative, and high level of ownership.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements where applicable.
- Willingness to build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement.
