Summary
The Inventory Controller - External Vendors oversees virtual vendor inventory balances and transaction activity for loose stones and related components, ensuring inventory visibility, reconciliation, and integrity across systems and vendor locations. This role drives reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, and audit-ready reporting while partnering cross-functionally to maintain controls and minimize loss.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end visibility and control of virtual vendor inventory positions and align operational, system, and financial records.
- Track and validate inventory movements and transfers, ensuring traceability and transaction integrity.
- Manage vendor branch inventory, ad hoc counts, vendor loss requests, and inventory adjustments per control standards.
- Perform reconciliations to support financial reporting and audit validation; consolidate discrepancies and drive closure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve inventory alignment issues (e.g., Work Order status WO94) and develop variance explanations for management review.
- Identify control gaps, recommend enhancements, and partner with Finance, IT, Planning, Operations, and Product teams to improve end-to-end transaction flow.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in inventory control, audit, finance, or supply chain operations with ownership of reconciliation and control processes.
- Strong experience with inventory reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, and familiarity with control frameworks (e.g., SOX, CODC).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE or equivalent); strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and communicate complex transaction flows to stakeholders.
- Preferred: experience leading inventory audits or cycle counts, familiarity with stone/component multi-location inventory, process mapping, or Lean/Six Sigma exposure.
