Job Description

Summary

The Junior Staff Accountant/Accounting Clerk will support the Finance and Operations Manager with general accounting tasks including month-end journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset and depreciation schedule management, audit support and interaction with internal and external partners to ensure accurate transaction recording and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end journal entries to support the financial close.
  • Perform daily and monthly cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations during month-end close.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules including work in progress.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts including prepaid expenses and accruals.
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
  • Assist with compilation of tax data and coordination with external providers for filings.
  • Support annual external audit by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
  • Process accounts payable invoices, vendor payments, travel expenses and corporate card coding.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; accounting education preferred.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience across general accounting functions.
  • Experience with retail accounting and inventory preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with IFRS and tax concepts preferred.
  • Proficiency with SAP and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
