Summary
The Lease Accounting Manager, Americas, oversees lease accounting activities for the region, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with IFRS 16. The role manages the full lease accounting lifecycle and partners with cross-functional teams to improve processes, systems, reporting, and controls.
Responsibilities
- Maintain lease databases, interpret lease contracts, manage lease data in SAP, and oversee lease-related financial close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Coordinate rental payments, provide guidance to Mexico and Brazil, and monitor changes in lease accounting requirements.
- Collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, Accounts Payable, FP&A, and other teams on lease documentation, administration, reporting, analysis, and decision support.
- Perform lease abstractions, CAM audits, percent rent calculations, landlord reconciliations, and sales reporting.
- Support internal and external audits, maintain audit schedules, ensure IFRS 16 and company-policy compliance, and monitor Swiss SOX controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and best practices in lease accounting.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Accounting; CPA certification or a master's degree in Accounting is a plus.
- At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant lease accounting experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of IFRS 16 and lease accounting principles, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex lease agreements.
- Experience with lease accounting software and strong proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Strong accuracy, communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
