Loss Prevention Investigator

Summary

The Investigator protects company assets from fraud and internal and external loss through observation, investigations, apprehension, and compliance with privacy and safety policies. This role supports operations and sales teams with inventory processes and responds to emergencies with appropriate reporting. The position requires bilingual communication in English and French and relevant security certifications and licenses.

Responsibilities

• Routinely walk the sales floor to observe and identify dishonest persons both externally and internally
• Monitor and dispatch via CCTV system and apprehend shoplifters with record keeping
• Testify at criminal proceedings when appropriate
• Conduct periodic point of sale audits and internal investigations with confidentiality
• Analyze and follow up on transactional reporting to minimize loss due to errors
• Support inventory counts, shortage programs, and management of unsaleable items
• Respond to emergencies and ensure appropriate follow up reporting
• Provide support and follow up on audits to ensure compliance
• Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures

Requirements

• College degree or high school diploma equivalent
• 2 years experience in a similar capacity
• Experience in a retail environment
• Kinesic interview techniques or other interviewing and interrogation training
• Standard first aid and CPR OPA Level II
• Maintain provincial guard license
• Fully bilingual in French and English
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel PowerPoint and Word
