Summary
Protect and maintain company assets and ensure a safe environment for clients and associates through investigations, surveillance, and operational loss prevention activities. Perform store opening and closing duties, support inventory control and shortage programs, and respond to emergencies while maintaining confidentiality and clear documentation.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the store following company procedures
- Perform operational and inventory control audits and follow up to ensure compliance
- Support operations and sales teams with inventory counts and shortage programs
- Conduct routine floor walks, inspections, and monitor CCTV systems
- Conduct internal and external investigations and maintain precise investigation notes
- Apprehend shoplifters and preserve elements of proof
- Testify at criminal proceedings as required
- Respond to emergencies providing first aid or security procedures and detailed reporting
- Act as an advocate for health and safety in the store
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in loss prevention or safety and security in a retail environment
- Valid provincial security license upon hire and maintained in good standing
- Valid standard first aid, CPR, and AED certificates upon hire and maintained
- Strong confidentiality, investigative, and report writing skills
- Problem solving and de-escalation skills
- Ability to maintain clear field notes and daily communication logs
- Understanding of privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures
