Job Description

Summary

The Maintenance Technician II leads and performs maintenance activities to ensure a safe, fully functioning store environment across multiple Nordstrom locations. Reporting to the Facility Manager, this role conducts preventive and corrective repairs on building systems, supports vendor coordination, and mentors other technicians. The position requires readiness for on-demand responses, emergency situations, and participation in store and project meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform planned and on-demand preventive maintenance for HVAC, refrigeration, vertical transportation, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical defects, operate building controls/EMCS, and monitor system alarms and readings.
  • Update the CMMS with work orders and equipment history; manage parts inventory and assist with purchasing (POs) and ordering.
  • Coordinate and communicate with store leadership, vendors, contractors, and property managers; attend meetings and document outcomes.
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures including LOTO, PPE, working at heights, and ergonomic practices; respond to location emergencies.
  • Mentor and train other technicians on systems, procedures, and preventive maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED; vocational or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on facilities experience with emphasis on mechanical maintenance and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, low-voltage troubleshooting, and electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with CMMS and ordering systems (Coupa) and intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, ability to work independently, and flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and stooping.
