Summary
The Maintenance Technician II leads and mentors a team to ensure a safe, well-maintained store environment across multiple Nordstrom locations within a business node. This role supports the Facility Manager by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, vertical transportation, electrical and mechanical systems, and building controls. The technician coordinates vendors and parts ordering, maintains CMMS records, and acts as a safety champion. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and off-hours may be required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform planned and on-demand preventive maintenance on critical and non-critical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and building control system issues.
- Operate and monitor EMCS/building control systems and respond to alarms.
- Conduct equipment rounds, readings, and document malfunctions and corrective actions.
- Perform manual labor tasks including lifting, loading, and moving materials as needed.
- Coordinate and communicate with store leadership, vendors, contractors, and landlords.
- Support parts ordering, PO creation, vendor management, and related administrative tasks.
- Mentor and train other technicians and delegate workorders appropriately.
- Update and maintain accurate equipment histories and maintenance procedures in the CMMS.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; vocational/associate degree preferred.
- 5+ years hands-on facilities experience with emphasis on mechanical maintenance and preventive maintenance.
- 5+ years experience with HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
- Experience with CMMS and ordering systems (Coupa); intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of building controls, low voltage troubleshooting, and basic networking concepts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs or more and perform physical tasks including climbing and stooping.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and off-hours.
