Job Description

Summary

The Alterations and Tailor Shop Manager leads the store alterations department, ensuring high-quality tailoring services and exceptional customer service. This role coaches and develops shop employees, manages workflow and scheduling to meet promised completion dates, and oversees shop operations and labor expenses. The manager recruits and hires talent and enforces shop procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, train, and develop shop employees on fit, procedures, and quality standards
  • Identify, recruit, hire, and onboard alterations and tailoring staff
  • Oversee alterations/tailoring workflow and prioritize workload to meet promised completion dates
  • Ensure alterations are completed according to shop guidelines and quality standards
  • Manage shop scheduling, office tasks, and labor expenses
  • Maintain safe and proper use of all shop equipment

Requirements

  • Previous experience in alterations and tailoring
  • Understanding of safe and proper use of shop equipment
  • Clear and professional communication with co-workers and customers
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store needs
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
