Job Description

Summary

The Alterations and Tailor Shop Manager leads the alterations department to deliver high quality tailoring and customer service. This role focuses on coaching and developing employees, managing workload and schedules, recruiting talent, and overseeing shop operations and expenses to meet Nordstrom guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Teach coach and develop employees to provide exceptional customer service
  • Identify recruit and hire qualified alterations and tailoring staff
  • Coach employees to complete alterations according to company service and quality standards
  • Organize department workload to ensure items are completed by promised dates
  • Educate employees on proper fit shop procedures and guidelines
  • Manage office and labor expenses for the department
  • Ensure safe and proper use of all shop equipment

Requirements

  • Previous experience in alterations and tailoring
  • Understanding of safe and proper use of shop equipment
  • Strong communication skills with co workers and customers
  • High level of ownership accountability and initiative
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store needs
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
