Summary
The Manager, Alterations Trainer develops technical skills and learning paths for alterations team members across the United States. This role assesses technical capabilities, supports recruitment and apprenticeships, and delivers training in tailoring techniques and client relationships. The position requires expert-level tailoring knowledge and up to 30% domestic and international travel.
Responsibilities
- Assess alterationists' technical and client relationship skills, identify development needs, and support recruitment and skills evaluations.
- Develop and animate learning paths, deliver technical training, and coach alterationists and apprentices.
- Promote consistent alteration services and use of digital tools while supporting improved client experience and boutique alteration performance.
- Evaluate workshop efficiency, equipment, and working conditions; contribute to alterations school planning and workshop organization.
- Collaborate with boutique, learning, product, and CHANEL & moi teams, and maintain relationships with relevant schools.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in a tailoring or alterations workshop, with expert fitter-level expertise.
- Excellent mastery of sewing, tailoring, flou, fitting, and garment alterations, including specialized techniques and materials.
- Strong training, presentation, communication, coaching, and organizational skills, with a passion for client experience.
- Basic PowerPoint and Excel skills and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds and sit, stand, bend, reach, and kneel periodically.
