Summary
The Manager, Alterations Trainer is responsible for the skills development of alteration team members across the U.S., delivering technical training, assessments, and developing learning paths. The role requires deep expertise in alterations techniques including leather, denim, knitwear, and high-end tailoring and the ability to transmit skills through public speaking and one-on-one coaching. The position involves travel to boutiques and centralized learning environments and close collaboration with People & Organization and boutique teams.
Responsibilities
- Assess technical and client relationship skills of Alterationists to map skill levels and identify gaps.
- Conduct skills evaluations for recruitment and partner with boutique management and People & Organization.
- Build, animate, and deliver the learning path, training sessions and CHANEL & moi seminars on tailoring techniques and client service.
- Develop proficiency with and train teams on digital tools including ACET, Repair and Alteration App, and IFL.
- Evaluate workshop efficiency, recommend equipment and oversee workshop organization and technical management.
- Collaborate on apprenticeship programs and contribute to creation of an Alterations school and curriculum.
- Partner with learning and product teams to improve boutique alteration KPIs and the client experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a tailoring or alteration workshop with expert fitter-level expertise.
- Mastery of sewing (tailoring and flou), fitting ceremony, and experience with leather, knits, beading and fine tailoring.
- Strong training, presentation, coaching and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic PowerPoint and Excel skills and the ability to plan and organize work autonomously.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds and to sit, stand, bend, reach and kneel for extended periods.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
