Job Description

Summary

The Asset Protection Operations Center (APOC) Manager at Nordstrom in Seattle leads a team dedicated to safeguarding the company's people, assets, and profitability. This role involves overseeing real-time monitoring of potential risks, ensuring consistent execution of security protocols, and contributing to process improvements in emergency management. The APOC Manager collaborates with key stakeholders across Asset Protection and Legal to enhance security measures and support fraud detection and safety-related incidents.

Responsibilities
  • Hire, train, and retain a high-performing team that collaborates effectively across various departments.
  • Maintain regular communication with Asset Protection and cross-functional leaders to align with business needs.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Business Resilience Team to integrate the Operations Center into crisis management frameworks.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for Operations Center personnel and establish best practices for security incident investigations.
  • Respond to overnight emergencies and coordinate with emergency responders as needed.
  • Oversee access control systems and coordinate repairs and upgrades to security hardware and software.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify security risks and recommend improvements.
  • Develop key performance indicators and reporting tools to measure the Operations Center’s performance.
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities for staffing, tools, and operational expenses.
  • Leverage data and incident trends to provide informed recommendations to senior decision-makers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in service-based security operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in security leadership roles.
  • Technical background in security systems and expert knowledge of physical security principles.
  • Experience managing or operating within a 24/7 Security Operations Center environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access Control Systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and planning skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and emergency response playbooks.
  • Familiarity with emergency management frameworks and mass communication platforms.
  • Proficient in leveraging data platforms to drive performance metrics and operational insights.
  • Experience managing external vendors and service-level agreements for security technologies.
  • Knowledge of retail loss prevention strategies.
  • Industry certifications such as CPP, PSP, CEM, or equivalent are preferred.
