Summary
Senior tax role responsible for property tax compliance, planning, audits and appeals, and overseeing business license filings and renewals. The role leads external providers and a small team, collaborates cross functionally, and implements automation to improve processes. This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence four days per week in Seattle.
Responsibilities
- Manage external providers and consultants for property tax and licensing obligations
- Gather and review data for return preparation and coordinate with fixed asset accounting
- Maintain property tax and licensing calendar to ensure timely filings payments and renewals
- Forecast property tax and business license expense and coordinate with FP A
- Manage property tax appeals and audits and negotiate with taxing authorities
- Review deeds leases assignments and agreements to determine tax obligations
- Lead licensing for new store openings and manage business license portfolio
- Facilitate annual site inspections with county appraisers
- Implement automation to streamline data gathering and reporting
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and industry
- BA BS in Accounting or comparable degree required
- Property tax appeal and audit experience required retail industry experience preferred
- Proficiency with tax research tools and systems such as Oracle Tableau Alteryx PTMS and CCH
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong Office skills
- Strong technical research analytical and communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams
