Summary
Responsible for preparation and processing of the bi-weekly US and Canada payroll, ensuring efficient accurate payments across multi-state and province jurisdictions and maintaining knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily payroll operations including monitoring correspondence and reviewing payroll data
- Monitor data flows into payroll systems and escalate errors to business partners
- Process manual payments, reversals and special payments such as bonuses and final pay
- Work with payroll vendors to assist with inquiries, audits and validations for US and Canada
- Ensure proper taxation of employer paid benefits and multi-state compliance
- Reconcile monthly payroll GL accounts for US and Canada
- Manage garnishment processes and interact with vendors and agencies
- Review wage and tax registers and assist in quarter end and year end processes
- Respond to payroll and HR inquiries from staff in a timely professional manner
Requirements
- 3+ years experience processing multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and federal and state regulations
- Proficiency in Excel with VLOOKUP experience preferred
- Experience with ADP or comparable multi-state payroll software
- High degree of professionalism, confidentiality and strong communication skills
- Problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively
- FPC accreditation preferred
