Summary
The Procurement Planner ensures raw materials, components and sub-assemblies are delivered to production sites to support manufacturing needs. This role manages inventory strategies, material planning for product changes, supplier execution and day-to-day issue resolution while driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Define component requirements based on production plans, stock and lead times.
- Create and deploy supply requirements via MRP to meet production and inventory objectives.
- Monitor open purchase orders and manage expediting or deferring to maintain production flow.
- Manage inter-company material flows between warehouse locations.
- Resolve PO issues including invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.
- Set and maintain system planning parameters such as MOQ, lead time and safety stock.
- Coordinate material flows during product/BOM changes and new product introductions.
- Support supplier onboarding and develop local sourcing opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in procurement processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a supply chain role for a direct manufacturer.
- Applied knowledge of forecasting, MRP ERP, inventory management and procure to pay processes.
- Analytical skills for data gathering, cost analysis and operational decision making.
- Experience with engineering change management and BOM coordination.
- Strong communication skills; English fluency required; French or German an asset.
- Relevant certifications such as CPIM APICS or CPSM considered an asset.
