Job Description

Summary

The Product Developer for Men's Apparel will drive development of Nordstrom private label product through collaboration with merchandising, design, technical design, and vendor partners. This hybrid role focuses on delivering product that meets cost, quality, and brand standards while managing the product lifecycle and meeting calendar milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Develop products engineered to cost standards and review prototypes for quality and design intent
  • Manage pre-production tracking and reporting to meet development milestones and calendar due dates
  • Negotiate with vendors on costing, time and action, and minimums
  • Create, revise and manage tech packs and prototypes with timely PLM system updates
  • Place developed styles in alignment with sourcing strategy and provide recommendations
  • Review and reconcile failed garment and fabric test reports
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to build seasonal assortments

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in product development, design or production in garment manufacturing
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of raw materials and garment construction
  • Experience with domestic and international manufacturers and strong negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Outlook; experience with Adobe Illustrator and PLM preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate capabilities through a costing exercise
