Summary
The Retail Creative Director leads vision and strategy for new in-store creative concepts and visual merchandising initiatives, overseeing design, fixture and display execution, and integration of marketing campaigns to deliver exceptional retail experiences. This senior leader manages a team of designers and program managers and collaborates with cross functional partners including visual merchandising and construction to develop store prototypes, layouts, and experiential activations. The role balances strategic direction with detailed project oversight and requires strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Define multi year strategic roadmap for in store creative concepts and visual marketing experiences.
- Lead end to end design and development of new store prototypes, layouts, fixtures, and finishes.
- Oversee creative direction for marketing campaigns and in store displays ensuring brand consistency.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including merchandising construction and store VM to execute concepts.
- Manage multiple design and visual display projects across phases to deliver design intent and timelines.
- Oversee rollout of new store concepts and remodels coordinating contractors and external partners.
- Analyze performance of store design and merchandising initiatives and optimize based on data and feedback.
- Mentor and develop design and program management teams and provide leadership to achieve goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of design and construction related experience in luxury or fashion retail environments.
- Proven experience leading and managing teams of designers and program or project managers.
- Strong proficiency in architectural and interior design principles and review of construction and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of materials construction trades sustainable design ADA requirements and operational systems.
- Experience planning and executing innovative retail concepts with high quality materials and finishes.
- Expertise in integrating digital technologies into physical retail spaces.
- Excellent verbal written communication and influencing and negotiating skills.
