Responsibilities- Ensure the proper fit of garments and answer customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, or care.
- Mark garments for tailoring and sew needed alterations within the alteration schedule provided to customers.
- Press and repair garments when appropriate and maintain an orderly appearance of the tailor shop.
- Ensure all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained and in working order.
- Use proper telephone etiquette when answering the phone, taking messages, and answering customer inquiries.
- Communicate customer requests to management and help solve problems affecting the service and productivity of the tailor shop.
- Hang and store customers' altered and unaltered merchandise in a neat and organized manner.
- Participate in store meetings and training seminars as necessary and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements- Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter.
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job, including sewing machines, pressing, and ironing equipment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy garments and garment bags throughout the store.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Willingness to adhere to all company policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
