Summary
The Senior Accountant is a technically focused accounting role on the Consolidations, Reporting & Corporate Accounting team supporting global entity reporting, hedge and pension accounting, equity and minority interest, and selected consolidation tasks. The position combines individual contributor ownership of complex recurring accounting work with first-level review and coaching responsibility for more junior staff. The role follows a hybrid schedule based at the Whippany, NJ corporate office.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain complex recurring corporate accounting journal entries and balance sheet rollforwards across assigned technical areas including hedge, pension, equity, and minority interest accounting.
- Serve as primary first-level reviewer for work prepared by Staff Accountant, providing feedback and ensuring accuracy through the monthly close cycle.
- Support the monthly global consolidation process by preparing system submissions and selected chart of accounts reviews.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and quarterly analytical reviews including intercompany P&L and balance sheet variation analyses.
- Prepare financial statement support, semi-annual management representation letters, and required US and Canadian filings.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities for recurring close activities and analytical templates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years public accounting experience or 4+ years progressive private accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS and ability to apply technical accounting standards to complex, recurring areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort learning new ERP and consolidation systems; experience with HFM, JDE, or BlackLine is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced month-end close environment with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface with cross-functional and international stakeholders; CPA license or pursuit preferred.
