Job Description

Summary

As a Senior Commercial Legal Counsel at Peter Millar and G/FORE, you will play a crucial role in managing and executing legal and strategic reviews of commercial initiatives. Based in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, you will report to the head legal counsel and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, handling legal and intellectual property matters both domestically and globally.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of US commercial agreements, focusing on digital, technology, e-commerce, and SaaS agreements.
  • Ensure compliance of all commercial agreements with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Provide legal advice and support to business units on a wide range of legal matters.
  • Manage litigation and pre-litigation matters, coordinating with outside counsel and developing litigation strategies.
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage employment law matters and draft employment policies.
  • Identify and assess legal risks, develop strategies to mitigate those risks, and provide legal advice on compliance matters.
  • Manage outside legal counsel as needed.
  • Develop contract training materials and conduct training sessions for business teams.
Requirements
  • J.D. from a recognized law school and membership in at least one state bar in good standing.
  • 7-10 years of transactional legal experience, preferably in law firm and in-house roles.
  • Strong general commercial contract skills and experience in employment law and litigation management.
  • Experience in retail or consumer products industries preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative nature with strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset.
  • Ability to work in-person in Raleigh/Durham corporate offices and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
