Job Description

Summary

Senior Corporate Counsel, Privacy will serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. data privacy law, AI governance, and data security for an enterprise-scale legal team. This individual contributor role advises senior stakeholders across Technology, Marketing, Strategic Sourcing, and Operations, and partners with Privacy and Information Security teams to enable business objectives with practical legal guidance. The role leads privacy compliance and AI governance efforts while supporting incident response and contractual protections.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) and lead the company’s U.S. privacy compliance program, including notices, consent mechanisms, and data subject rights processes.
  • Develop and implement AI governance policies, conduct vendor AI due diligence, and embed legal review into product development.
  • Provide legal support for data security, including breach response, notification obligations, and coordination with forensic and communications teams.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data-related provisions in commercial and technology contracts and vendor agreements.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and deliver training and guidance to business stakeholders and cross-functional committees.

Requirements

  • J.D. and licensed to practice law in Washington State.
  • 7+ years of legal experience with a meaningful focus on U.S. privacy law, including in-house or law firm experience advising large organizations.
  • Experience with state comprehensive privacy statutes (CCPA/CPRA and similar), data security incident handling, and breach notification obligations.
  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, applicable AI laws and regulations, and experience conducting AI vendor due diligence.
  • Strong drafting skills for policies, contracts, and legal summaries and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance.
  • IAPP CIPP/US certification required; AI governance certification (AIGP) or equivalent preferred.
