Job Description

About The Role

The Senior Manager, Facilities is responsible for leading day-to-day facilities operations at The RealReal's Phoenix Authentication Center while supporting an assigned portfolio of remote retail locations. This role serves as the primary facilities leader for the Phoenix site and is accountable for building reliability, preventive maintenance, workplace standards, vendor performance, janitorial services, safety, project execution and the overall employee experience. The Senior Manager will also travel approximately 20% to support retail facilities, projects, repairs and operational needs across the assigned portfolio. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, proactive facilities leader who anticipates issues, independently drives solutions, communicates clearly and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly operational environment.

What You Get To Do Every Day

  • Own day-to-day facilities operations for the Phoenix Authentication Center, ensuring the site is safe, clean, reliable, operationally ready and maintained to company standards.
  • Lead facilities support staff and manage third-party janitorial, porter, maintenance and specialty service providers; establish clear expectations and hold partners accountable for service quality and performance.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance, inspection and repair programs for critical building systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, lighting, dock/warehouse systems and other facility infrastructure.
  • Maintain strong site standards through routine building walks, documented inspections, timely corrective actions and consistent follow-through on open issues.
  • Manage facilities work orders, repairs and service requests from identification through completion, prioritizing business continuity, employee experience, safety and cost.
  • Support an assigned portfolio of remote retail locations, including approximately 20% travel for site visits, repairs, projects, vendor oversight, emergency response and facilities standard assessments.
  • Proactively identify project and operational risks, escalate concerns early and develop practical solutions rather than waiting for issues to become business disruptions.
  • Source, negotiate and manage external vendor partnerships, service agreements and bids; monitor performance, service levels, pricing and compliance with company requirements.
  • Manage facilities budgets, repair and maintenance spend, service contracts and project costs; support forecasting and identify opportunities to improve service while controlling cost.
  • Partner with landlords and property management on building-related issues, lease obligations, repairs, inspections and corrective actions, and drive items to timely resolution.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Retail, Safety, Asset Protection, IT, Real Estate/Construction, Finance, Procurement and People teams to support business priorities and site needs.
  • Support workplace planning, space utilization, moves, furniture/equipment needs and operational changes at the Phoenix site as required.
  • Ensure facilities practices, vendors and work activities support applicable health, safety, code and company requirements; coordinate corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, recurring inspections, vendor scorecards and other operating metrics to drive continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Provide clear, timely communication to leadership and stakeholders regarding site conditions, project status, risks, outages, emergency issues, budgets and planned work.
  • Respond to urgent facilities issues and coordinate after-hours support when required to protect employees, customers, inventory and business operations.
  • Build scalable facilities processes, documentation and standards that can be applied consistently across Phoenix and the assigned retail portfolio.

What You Bring To The Role

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of progressive facilities management experience in a fast-paced, multi-site, distribution, fulfillment, warehouse, retail or similarly complex operating environment.
  • 5+ years of experience leading facilities teams and/or managing multiple third-party service providers and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a large operational facility, including building systems, preventive maintenance, repairs, janitorial services, inspections and vendor performance.
  • Strong project management experience overseeing construction, renovations, capital improvements, installations and facility refreshes from scope through closeout.
  • Proven ability to independently assess issues, make sound decisions, anticipate risks and drive work to completion with limited day-to-day direction.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills, including bid review, scope development, contract/service-level management and performance accountability.
  • Experience managing operating budgets, repair and maintenance spend, project costs and forecasts.
  • Working knowledge of building systems and facilities best practices, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety and general building maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing needs across a home-base facility and distributed retail portfolio.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide concise updates, escalate risk appropriately and partner effectively with leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Phoenix Authentication Center and respond to urgent or after-hours facilities needs when business conditions require.
  • Ability to Travel: approximately 20%.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting both large operational facilities and a multi-site retail portfolio.
  • Experience with CMMS/work-order platforms, facilities reporting, KPI development and vendor scorecards.
  • Facilities or project-management certification such as CFM, FMP, PMP or equivalent is a plus.

Compensation, Benefits, + Perks

  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • 401K with Company Match
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • 9 Paid Company Holidays
  • Flexible Time Off (With Manager Approval)
