Summary
Set technical direction for Nordstrom's cloud platform, CI/CD, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), shaping architecture and engineering practices across the organization. Lead investments in autonomous deployments, runtime scaling, multi-region resilience, and reliability systems while balancing customer needs, operational effectiveness, and cost.
Responsibilities
- Own the long-term architecture and design principles for cloud platforms, CI/CD, and SRE.
- Identify and resolve cross-team platform challenges, and align reliability targets with business capabilities.
- Drive standards through pipeline enforcement, production validation, and design reviews.
- Guide technical decisions during significant incidents and turn lessons learned into platform improvements.
- Mentor senior engineers, influence hiring, and represent platform engineering externally.
- Assess emerging technologies and make adoption decisions based on demonstrated production value.
Requirements
- 15+ years of professional software or infrastructure engineering experience and a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field.
- Deep architectural experience with large-scale cloud platforms, Kubernetes, multi-account estates, and shared services.
- Enterprise-scale continuous delivery, software supply chain security, SRE practices, and production resilience experience.
- Experience engineering for predictable traffic peaks, including capacity forecasting, load testing, and chaos exercises.
- Strong technical judgment, cross-team influence, communication, and mentorship skills.
- Available to work at the Seattle corporate headquarters at least four days per week.
