Shipper And Receiver

Summary

This on-site Shipping and Receiving role handles incoming and outgoing merchandise for the store, including unloading, processing paperwork, packing and loading shipments, and delivering items to stockrooms and departments. The position requires safe operation of material-handling equipment, adherence to health and safety procedures, and accurate recording of inventory and shipping documentation. Strong attention to detail is needed for inspecting shipments, logging discrepancies, and ensuring proper customs procedures for out-of-country shipments.

Responsibilities

• Unload merchandise from trucks using safe lifting techniques
• Operate handcarts, flatbeds and pump jacks to move goods
• Place incoming boxes in designated areas and check counts against waybills, invoices or packing slips
• Inspect boxes for tampering or damage and log discrepancies
• Deliver merchandise and alterations to stockrooms, shipping and other departments
• Determine shipping methods, prepare paperwork and affix labels and shipping instructions
• Pack and load trucks and pick up/deliver supply orders as required
• Collect and dispose of cardboard, garbage and recyclables
• Ensure accurate customs procedures for out-of-country shipments
• Comply with all health & safety, privacy and cyber security policies

Requirements

• High school diploma
• 2+ years of experience in a shipping/receiving environment
• Ability to operate handcarts, flatbeds and pump jacks safely
• Physical ability to lift and move merchandise using safe techniques
• Strong attention to detail for inspecting shipments and recording discrepancies
• Familiarity with shipping paperwork and recording contents manually or in computer systems
• Knowledge of customs procedures for international shipments
