Summary
Senior Cloud Database Engineer to lead expansion into AWS cloud database platforms, establish standards and best practices, and mentor experienced database professionals as they transition to cloud native technologies with emphasis on PostgreSQL and Aurora.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement standardized configurations for AWS databases to meet enterprise requirements
- Architect solutions using AWS database services including RDS Aurora DynamoDB and other AWS data services
- Establish governance frameworks deployment standards and operational procedures across AWS environments
- Design backup recovery and high availability strategies meeting SLAs and compliance needs
- Deploy manage and optimize diverse database systems including relational NoSQL in memory and data warehouse platforms
- Monitor troubleshoot and resolve complex performance issues across AWS database services
- Develop automation and infrastructure as code for database provisioning and management
- Train mentor and conduct knowledge transfer for engineers moving from on premises to cloud native databases
- Create documentation runbooks and training materials to support cloud database operations
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands on database engineering experience with at least 4 years on cloud database platforms
- 3+ years working with AWS database services across multiple database types
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL administration including tuning replication and disaster recovery
- Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure networking security and cloud architecture patterns
- Proven experience establishing database standards and best practices in enterprise environments
- Experience with backup recovery strategies and ensuring SLA compliance
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex database and application performance issues
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and with CI CD pipelines for database deployments
- Familiarity with AWS migration tools monitoring and data services such as DMS SCT CloudWatch and Redshift
