Overview
Our client is seeking a Store Manager to lead its New York boutique and shape the next phase of growth for a highly distinctive luxury womenswear business. This is a hands-on leadership role for a merchant-minded retail operator who can drive sales, build a loyal local community, and deliver a highly personalized client experience rooted in styling, hospitality, and product knowledge. The ideal candidate will bring structure to a growing store operation while serving as a visible ambassador for the business in the New York market.
Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of the New York store, ensuring strong execution across selling, service, staffing, and store standards.
Drive sales performance and productivity, with ownership of business results, conversion, average transaction value, and repeat client engagement.
Build and maintain a high-touch clientele strategy focused on CRM, outreach, follow-up, and long-term relationship development.
Act as the lead stylist on the floor, confidently introducing the collection, guiding clients through fit and silhouette, and creating a personalized selling experience.
Develop the store as a destination for local clients, private shoppers, stylists, and other influential community members.
Create a welcoming, hospitality-driven environment that reflects the tone of the collection and encourages discovery, loyalty, and word-of-mouth growth.
Recruit, train, and lead a small store team, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and a strong service culture.
Partner with leadership to implement structure, processes, and best practices appropriate for a growing retail business.
Oversee store operations including opening and closing procedures, inventory accuracy, merchandising upkeep, and general organization.
Support direct-to-consumer fulfillment activity handled through the store, coordinating with the team to ensure timely and accurate execution.
Provide feedback from the sales floor on client preferences, traffic patterns, and local market opportunities.
Represent the business with professionalism and authenticity, helping increase awareness and relevance within the New York luxury market.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Store Manager or senior retail leader within luxury fashion, designer ready-to-wear, or a comparable high-service environment.
Strong track record of driving sales and building a repeat client business through personal outreach and relationship management.
Demonstrated strength in styling and client-facing selling, with the ability to interpret a unique product concept and translate it for a wide range of customers.
Experience cultivating relationships with private shoppers, stylists, and high-net-worth clients in the New York market.
Ability to lead a small team while remaining highly active on the sales floor.
Operationally strong, with comfort establishing process and structure in an entrepreneurial environment.
Excellent communication skills and sound judgment in a client-facing leadership role.
Comfort working in a founder-led, fast-growing company where flexibility, ownership, and resourcefulness are essential.
Strong aesthetic sensibility and alignment with a refined, understated luxury point of view.
Must be based in New York and available to work on-site full time.
