SummaryAs a Store Planner at Nordstrom Rack, you will be responsible for the architectural planning of retail interiors to support new and existing store construction projects and store optimization initiatives. You will report to the Senior Store Planner and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure project goals and deliverables are met.
Responsibilities- Develop store layouts with optimal configuration of program elements to enhance sales floor, BOH, and customer service areas.
- Conduct space planning studies and test fit plans as needed.
- Regularly meet with the Senior Store Planner and Nordstrom Rack stakeholders to align on project goals and operational needs.
- Drive the development of store planning standards by applying industry best practices and staying updated with retail innovations.
- Assist the construction project management team in optimizing store planning processes to improve project delivery speed, efficiency, and costs.
- Create tools to organize, document, and communicate project status throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage and coordinate external architectural firms, engineering consultants, vendors, and fabricators to meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Participate in the selection of retail systems and specifications.
- Collaborate closely with internal Nordstrom business partners and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in retail space planning or a related field.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Sketchup, Bluebeam, Photoshop, Indesign) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of space planning and the overall design process from concept to construction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate planning ideas, issues, and resolutions effectively.
- Understanding of building codes and ADA requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex situations and drive simple solutions.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work within compressed timeframes.
