Responsibilities- Ensure the proper fit of garments and mark them for tailoring.
- Answer customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, or care.
- Sew needed alterations within the alteration schedule provided to customers.
- Press and repair garments as needed.
- Maintain an orderly appearance of the tailor shop and keep supplies stocked.
- Ensure all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained.
- Use proper telephone etiquette when answering the phone and taking messages.
- Communicate customer requests to management and help solve problems.
- Hang and store customers' altered and unaltered merchandise neatly.
- Participate in store meetings and training seminars as necessary.
- Arrive to work at designated times and work full designated shifts.
Requirements- Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter.
- Ability to operate all necessary equipment, including sewing machines and pressing equipment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy garments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to adhere to all company policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.
