Job Description

Summary

The Technical Manager leads operational, technical, and strategic functions for a high-volume watch repair workshop, driving production output, quality, cost control, and workflow efficiency. This role requires advanced horology expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to scale operations while maintaining luxury-level craftsmanship and service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct day-to-day operations of the watch repair workshop to improve production and quality.
  • Optimize workflow, capacity planning, and production scheduling to increase throughput and reduce costs.
  • Implement process improvements (Lean, 5S) and quality assurance programs.
  • Manage large technical teams, including coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Use workshop management systems and production tracking tools to monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support long-term growth and scaling of service operations.

Requirements

  • Certified watchmaker (WOSTEP, CW21, SAWTA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in watch repair operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, quartz, and high‑complication timepieces.
  • Proven experience managing large technical teams (20+ technicians) in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience with production planning, capacity management, budgeting, and inventory control.
  • Proficiency with workshop management systems, KPI analysis, and process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma preferred).
