Job Description

Overview

A mission-driven, digital-first fine jewelry brand is reshaping the traditional diamond industry and leading the Lab-Grown Diamond (LGD) segment with innovative product and in-house technology. The Vice President, eCommerce owns the global DTC eCommerce business and P&L, setting strategy and leading execution across site experience, product & engineering for commerce, onsite merchandising, and lifecycle/retention. This leader will drive conversion, AOV, LTV, and profitability while partnering closely with Growth/Performance Marketing on acquisition and demand generation. The role demands a data-driven, product-minded operator who has scaled high-consideration DTC eCommerce in fast-growth environments.

Responsibilities

Strategy & P&L
  • Own the eCommerce P&L (revenue, gross margin, variable costs, contribution profit); set annual and quarterly plans, forecasts, and KPI targets across conversion, AOV, LTV, CAC/LTV, returns, and contribution margin.
  • Develop the multi-year eCommerce strategy and roadmap covering platform evolution, international expansion, and omnichannel integrations (appointments, showroom, retail partners as applicable).
Site Experience (UX/UI) & Product
  • Lead end-to-end UX/UI and product strategy for eCommerce: discovery, navigation, PDPs, education/configurators for high-consideration purchases, cart, checkout, payments, financing, and post-purchase.
  • Establish a rigorous experimentation program (A/B and multivariate) to drive CRO; maintain a high-impact backlog focused on funnel friction, speed, and trust.
  • Ensure accessibility (WCAG), mobile-first design, localization, and international UX best practices.
Technology & Development
  • Manage and grow a cross-functional development team (front-end, back-end, QA/automation) and partner engineers; institute strong product rituals (intake, prioritization, sprint planning, release/change management).
  • Own site performance, uptime, and security with infrastructure/DevOps; drive Core Web Vitals, page speed, and resilience.
  • Oversee integrations for payments, tax, fraud, OMS/ERP, CRM/CDP, analytics, personalization, search, reviews/UGC, and customer service platforms.
Retention & Lifecycle Marketing
  • Lead retention marketing across CRM, email, SMS, push, loyalty, referrals, and onsite personalization; build automated journeys from education and consideration to purchase and repeat.
  • Partner with CX to elevate post-purchase communications, care/repair flows, appointment reminders, and review requests to increase LTV and advocacy.
Merchandising & Onsite Trading
  • Direct onsite merchandising, search & browse, recommendations, content strategy, and promotional mechanics to optimize category performance, inventory turns, and margin.
  • Collaborate with Product, Planning, and Operations on launches, lead-time visibility, and availability messaging.
Growth/Performance Collaboration
  • Collaborate tightly with Growth/Performance Marketing on demand generation and media mix; align on KPIs, attribution, landing experiences, and first-party data strategy to improve CAC/LTV.
  • Inform creative and content needs to support high-consideration purchase education across channels.
Leadership & Budgeting
  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of developers, UX/UI designers, product managers, eCommerce merchandisers, and growth analysts.
  • Lead annual budget planning and in-year allocation across technology, tools, experimentation, and retention programs to maximize ROI.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of eCommerce leadership with 5+ years managing cross-functional product/UX and engineering teams; proven success owning an eCommerce P&L at scale.
  • Track record growing high-ticket or high-consideration DTC categories (e.g., luxury, jewelry/bridal, automotive, furniture) with long purchase cycles and white-glove CX.
  • Deep expertise in CRO, UX research/design, personalization, and lifecycle/CRM (email/SMS/push/loyalty), including rigorous experimentation programs.
  • Strong technical fluency across modern commerce stacks (headless or major platforms), integrations (payments, tax, fraud, OMS/ERP, CDP/CRM), and web performance/security best practices.
  • Advanced analytics skills and tooling familiarity (e.g., GA4, Segment, Mixpanel/Amplitude, Looker, testing platforms, heat-mapping/session replay).
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Growth/Performance Marketing to align acquisition with on-site conversion and retention to improve CAC/LTV.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and program management; comfortable operating from strategy to hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and outcomes-driven with a bias for clarity, speed, and measurable impact.
