Seeking a Wood Paint And Stain Finishing Specialist to transform raw wood into refined, aged finishes for fine furniture within a design driven workshop. The role requires technical mastery of paints, stains, glazes, and protective coatings plus strong color matching and surface preparation skills. Candidate will collaborate with carpentry, design, and production teams to ensure finishes meet aesthetic and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and refine wood surfaces through detailed sanding, filling, and repair to create a flawless foundation for finishing
- Apply paints, stains, glazes, and sealants using spraying, brushing, hand rubbing, and wiping to achieve custom finishes
- Mix and match custom colors with precision using color theory to meet design specifications
- Apply protective coatings including varnishes, lacquers, oils, and waxes to enhance durability
- Conduct detailed inspections throughout the finishing process to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Maintain and calibrate finishing tools and HVLP spray systems and uphold a clean organized workspace
- Collaborate with carpentry, design, and production teams to align finishes with design vision
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in fine furniture finishing with water based and oil based paints and stains
- Expert knowledge of traditional and antique style finishing techniques
- Strong understanding of how different wood species respond to finishing materials and processes
- Skilled in advanced surface preparation, color matching, and decorative finishes such as antiquing and liming
- Familiarity with curing processes, VOC compliance, and safe handling of finishing materials
- Exceptional attention to detail, artistry, and commitment to craftsmanship
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a design driven workshop environment
