Responsibilities
- Polish finished wood furniture to achieve desired sheen and smoothness
- Use hand-rubbing techniques, polishing compounds, and buffing tools
- Inspect finished pieces for imperfections and correct swirl marks or dull areas
- Maintain consistency in sheen and texture across multiple pieces
- Collaborate with finishers and quality control teams to meet standards
- Clean and maintain polishing tools, materials, and workspace
- Handle finished furniture with care to preserve delicate finishes
- Follow safety and PPE standards in workshop environment
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in furniture polishing, finishing, or related craftsmanship
- Skilled in hand-rubbing and polishing techniques for lustrous finishes
- Experience with buffing tools, pads, and polishing compounds
- Understanding of how different finishes respond to polishing
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Familiarity with antique-style furniture and traditional finishing aesthetics preferred
- Knowledge of French polishing or other traditional hand-rubbed techniques preferred
- Portfolio or examples of previous polishing work preferred
